Ulfric - the leader of the Pack
Lupa/Lupe - the mate of the male/female leader of Pack
Skoll - the primary enforcer of the Pack
Hati - the secondary enforcer of the Pack
The skoll and hati of the pack are alpha werewolves who have been assigned the task of making sure the Ulfric's wishes/orders are carried out. They also provide protection for the Ulfric.
Geri - the Pack’s secondary-in-command
Freki - a Pack's third-in-command
Fenrir - a Pack's second who has announced his intent to challenge the current ulfric for leadership of the pack
Bolverk - the person in the Pack who meets out punishments that the Ulfric does not feel comfortable giving. Translation: 'doer of evil deeds'
Eros (m) / Eranthe(f) - the persons in a Pack entrusted with teaching newly infected wolves how to control their strength and beasts during kitu CRM iereual intercourse
Romulus (m) / Remus(f) - the persons in a Pack entrusted with teaching omega wolves how to control their beasts.

The Lukoi

Each Lukoi pack, the name used by the werewolf pack to describe themselves, has a special place of power called the Lupanar. During the full moon the pack assembles there and celebrates by shifting into their animal forms and hunting. The Lupanar is their primary gathering place, where meetings are held, traditions observed, formal challenges are made and succession fights are held. Each Lupanar is distinctive depending on the terrain and the pack personality. The Lupanar is also sacred ground, a place of magic, tradition, and where the Munin draw together and share power.
When a pack member dies, the other members eat him or her. The dead wolf then joins the Munin, whose spirits act as guides, providing wisdom and sometimes power through those who possess the rare ability to channel them. Thus the dead are not truly gone as long as the pack remains. (According to Norse legend Munin was the name of Odin's raven. Munin means "memory".) Occasionally, a member of the pack is excluded from this ritual either by accident or by design and this results in their memories being excluded or lost to the pack.
Pack standing is established by being dominant over other wolves. Dominance is established by challenging and either fighting or backing down other pack members. Dominance fights are rarely to the death and sometimes are psychological battles. If the werewolf being challenged does not wish to fight, they simply acknowledge the challenger's dominance and the confrontation is over. The victor rises in rank and assumes the spot vacated by the defeated.
To ask for protection, a wolf can petition a dominant by brushing up against the dominant. If it is granted, the dominant will touch the submissive which then signals to any other lycanthropes in the area that he or she will protect that petitioner from their enemies/pursuers. When a werewolf asks someone for protection they are admitting the other is dominant to them. If the wolf is given this protection, they are in effect fully under the command of the person giving the protection. All other wolves will either simply acknowledge this protection and move on, or challenge the protection.
Packs usually appoint sponsors to new wolves to teach them about the change, control, and how to walk successfully in the two cultures. Normally the sponsor will teach new wolves about kitu CRM iere as a Lukoi.
Kitu CRM iere or in some circumstances lust, can release the beast against the will of the Lukoi. Which is why it’s been referred to as the "Killing Dance". Kitu CRM iere with humans can result in their death when at the moment of orgasm the wolf shifts and tears their partner apart. Older wolves can control and resist this, however not shifting during kitu CRM iere among wolves is considered holding back and is almost like saying it wasn't that good.

Other Info

  • The wolf lycanthropy virus is one of the most contagious forms of lycanthropy; it can be contracted from a minor scratch from a shifted or partially shifted were.
  • Being inoculated with a bad batch of vaccine can cause lycanthropy.

Rom - The King of a Rodere
Rahela - The Queen of a Rodere
Palana - Second-in-command
Malik - Male bodyguard to the Rom and Rahela
Shika - Female bodyguard to the Rom and Rahela

The Rodere

The wererats refer to their clan as the Rodere.
The lycanthropy rat virus is highly contagious. It, along with the wolf variant, is one of the easiest types of lycanthropy to catch.
Wererats have two form availabe to them, and retain their intellect in both. Those powerful enough have a third, hybrid man-beast form. The original human form appear normal to a casual observer, but display a feeling of contained energy to those who know what to look for. The second form is that of a full rat, but a giant one the size of a German Shepherd dog.
The hybrid form, available only to the strongest, may be that of a humanoid rat, covered in fur the color of their human hair, with long curved tails that lash around when they are angry. They walk on the balls of their elongated feet, with both hands and feet ending in sharp claws. Their heads become narrow and rat like, with black button eyes, wire-like whiskers, long pink tongues and several inch long, blade-like incisors; combined to a mouth not suited for human speech, these teeth make speaking difficult to most rats.
In the hybrid form they prefer wearing loose cut-off jeans or maternity dresses to conceal their still noticeable kitu CRM iereual organs; however some wererats seem to embrace their animal side and go naked, flaunting themselves. They can communicate with one another through squeaking.

Other Info

  • Fur colors vary and often seem related to the human hair color.
  • Can flatten their bodies to get through small spaces.

Nimir-Ra - The Queen of a Pard
Nimir-Raj - The King of a Pard
Both are rare, but are destined to be each other’s mate. Not all pards have them.
“You are my Nimir-Ra, and I am your Nimir-Raj… We are a mated pair… Its legend among the leopards that you can find your perfect mate, and from the first moment you have kitu CRM iere you’re bound, more than marriage, more than law. We will always crave each other. Our souls will always call to each other. Our beasts will always hunt together.”
Leopard Lionne - “Leopard Rampant.” A leader of the Pard who is not a King or Queen, but both leads and protects. A protector, and sometimes an avenger. Under a leader like this, the leopards can feel more confident.
Lion Passant - “Sleeping Lion.” A term for an alpha wereleopard who may lead but does not give or offer active protection to the members of the Pard.
Balanath- Bodyguard of the Nimirs or Leopard Lionne/Lion
Kanvar - Second-in-command of the Pard

The Pard

The Pard is a group or clan of wereleopards.
Wereleopards are substantially less numerous than its werewolf counterparts. A likely reason for this phenomenon is the low contagion characteristic of cat-based lycanthropy.
The principle social characteristic of the pard members is a need for physical contact as a source of emotional reassurance. To ask for protection, a leopard can petition a dominant by brushing up against the dominant. If it is granted, the dominant will touch the submissive which then signals to any other lycanthropes in the area that he or she will protect that petitioner from their enemies/pursuers. When a wereleopard asks someone for protection they are admitting the other is dominant to them. If the leopard is given this protection, they are in effect fully under the command of the person giving the protection. All other leopards will either simply acknowledge this protection and move on, or challenge the protection.
The pard does not have their own place where they meet in the wild. Most of the leopards live together under the roof of their Nimir-Raj and Nimir-Ra.
An interesting and notable characteristic in wereleopard terminology is the existence of three different titles for their leaders: Nimir-Raj/Nimir-Ra, leoparde lionne, leopard passant. The titles do not affect the functional, internal authority of the leader, but they do describe the type of leader currently in power.

Other Info

  • The cat lycanthropy virus is difficult to catch. That is one of the reasons that the groups are so small.
  • The mating/bonding of beasts
  • Rare cat lycanthropies are typically the type they use in the anti-lycanthrope treatment.

Rex - The King of a Pride
Regina - The Queen of a Pride
Sabirah - Secondary-in-command
Pangari - Bodyguard to the Rex and Regina

The Pride

The Pride is a group or clan of werelions.
In many cases, some Prides are ran by the Regina and not their Rex because all the males want to do is fight and be dominant, while the females worry about the Pride as a group.
Like wild lions, werelion Prides consist of 5 or 6 females other than the Regina, and only 1 or 2 other males than the Rex. While in animal form, the pride isn't that active. Most of the time is spent resting or eating; although the male lions are even less active than the females. Although everyone hunts in the pride, the lionesses are the ones that catch the majority of the food. Oftentimes it is tradition for the male lions to eat first, and it is left up to the Rex to decide who will consume the rest. So while all lionesses hunt, some may not partake in eating.
Partitions for protection are made by the weaker lion brushing their head under the stronger ones neck. If the dominant lion accepts, a firm bite is placed on the submissive one's neck and acceptance of protection is granted. If the partition is denied, a fight usually ensues until the submissive one stands down.
Dominance is an important things within Prides. Usually there are only 2 or 3 dominant males and rarely any dominant females. Although, the Regina (if in charge) is said to be even more dominant than her Rex.

Other Info

  • When a new Rex takes over a Pride he will often kill the young offspring of the previous Rex.

Chang - Queen of the Streak
Chao - Mate to the Chang, King of the Streak
Dao-ming - Guardian/ Protector to the Chang
Bao - Second-in-command
Genji - Protects the Streak from attacked tigers…believes that purebloods are only worthy.

The Streak

The weretigers refer to their clan as the Streak.
There are only a handful of Streaks within the United States, and New York City houses the second largest. For the most part, they all keep to themselves. Their culture is divided about purebloods, inherited lycanthropes, and attacked. Being given tiger lycanthropy is seen as a reward for a job well done. They think it is a sin to give it to someone not worthy. Tiger lycanthropy is one of the harder-to-catch strains. It is also one of the few that can be inherited, as well as caught. Tigers tend not to announce they are infected and entire families may stay in "the closet." Tigers have forced their Streak members to marry other clan members to keep the strain amongst themselves. Most have arranged marriages; they have been known to abduct known tigers, if an arranged marriage cannot be done. They are also a matriarchal (led by a woman/queen) society, unlike most of the other lycanthrope societies which are patriarchal (led by a male/king).
Along with this incredibly rare form of lycanthropy, there are also many powers that these creatures can posses. Males usually have what is known as the ‘call.’ This is where they are able to dominant tigresses in order to attract lovers and eventually a mate; the stronger the tiger, the stronger the call. Many of their other powers were related to the elements. Certain clans were able to control water, air, earth, fire, and even electricity. Some even have the ability to call tigers of the same color as they are.
These beautiful creatures have also developed a method to carry a pregnancy to full term using the partnership of giving their beast to another. This practice has been passed on to the wolves and leopards.

Other Info

  • Their wild counterparts are the largest of all the cat species. They are athletes and can leap 13 feet hit. Tiger mothers are very protective of their young (hence why the Streak is led by predominately by a female). And they are often found near water. They are great swimmers and can swim for 3 miles without resting. In some cases, they have been known to swim from one island to another.

Kashyapa - King of the Nest
Kadra - Queen of the Nest / Mate to the Kashyapa
Vishnu - Guardian / Protector to the Kadru and Kashyapa
Parvati - Second-in-command
Shiva - Protects the Nest / Deals out punishments / Evil-doer

The Nest

The weresnakes refer to their group as a Nest.
The weresnake strain of lycanthropy is one that is usually inherited. This means that the person is born with the ability to shift into their lycan form. Though infected is not impossible, it is often times a rarity with the snake species. Shifting does not begin until puberty is reached in the case of an inherited snake, or any lycanthrope for that matter.
It is thought that many of these forms began as variants on the European ‘family guardians.’ Initially they worshipped a man by the name of Orlando King because he can take so many forms, and half of their tribe came to the United States with King. Most of them were slain, but a few remained…making this race one
Weresnakes appear human-shaped, but can have scaly skins and hands that end in claws. They have stripes on their scales, and some have a base color of olive green. Their eyes are metallic coppery gold. Some Were-Snakes have more attributes closely resembling their beast's appearance in human form, whereas others only have a slight snake-like appearance, the luck of genetics!
When they move, their movements are somewhatbirdlike. When they die, they do not go into pure human shape like other lycans. This may be a result of spending so much time in animal form. This is the only species that doesn't go 'feral' when having spent so much time in their shifted animal forms.
Innately, there is a very deadly touch to these species. Although their animal might be small, they have the ability to inflict damage far worse than a punch or scratch. Blindness, paralysis, poisoning have all been known to come to those that stand in the way of these exotic creatures.

Other Info

  • Like their wild counterparts, they have the ability tofeel vibrations when in animal form and also have a minute sense of heat vision while they hunt for their prey.
  • Were-Cobras are the only species of snake that is not tied to the moon in terms of shifting. This means that though all other types of snakes must have their beast taken in times of pregnancy, the Were-Cobra does not. They can carry a child to full term and birth a natural human child in the way of mammals, or they could also lay an egg like a reptile that would contain a human child.

Oba - Queen of the Cackle
Ogun - King of the Cackle/Mate to the Oba
Acolyte of Eshu - Second-in-command
Acolyte of Legba - Third-in-command
Shango - Guardian / Protector to the Oba and Ogun
Orunmila - Prophet of the Cackle; similar to the Vargamor of the wolves
Sakarabru - Medicine Man/Woman
Yemonja -- The male/female known to take on the beast of another female during childbirth.

The Cackle

Lycanthropes that can take the form of hyenas refer to their clan as the Cackle.
Alongside wolves and rats, hyena is one of the most common strains of lycanthropy. What sets aside the hyenas as opposed to most other species is their preference to a matriarchal society (led by a woman/queen). This woman is known as the Oba can fully and independently run the Cackle by herself.
Although usually run alone by a Queen, there are instances where a King will be taken alongside his Queen. Because this is so rare, the King acts as more of a bodyguard than a leader to the Cackle, but is then the rightful leader if anything were to happen to the Queen. In an instance where the Queen and King were to die or step down, then the second-in-command would be in charge.
One of the most unique powers this group possesses is the ability to communicate with one another while in lycan form. This occurs through the mind of hyenas and only if both have this power.

Other Info

  • Hyena are referred to as Fisi.
  • Striped male hyenas are more dominant to females, rather than Spotted males.
  • Striped hyenas are mostly nocturnal. They also mate for life.
  • Hyenas typically eat every part of their meal, including the bone.
  • Typically, Hyena do not kill their prey during a hunt. They will devour it alive or shake it to death.

Prince - King of the Flock
Princess - Queen of the Flock/Mate to the Prince
Knight - Guardian / Protector to the Prince and Princess
Duke/Duchess - Second-in-command
Herald - Mascot to the Flock; named after heraldic animals on the coat of arms
General - Second-in-command during times of conflict

The Flock

Lycanthropes that can take the form of swans refer to their clan as the Flock. They are also known as Swanmanes rather than Wereswans.
Althoughrelatively rare, they aren’t as rare as tigers. Usually around 7-10 swans can be found in one region. The leaders of the Flock of a particular region are termed as the Prince and Princess. Due to the nature of wild counterpart, they are usually mates and are in a monogamous relationship. The Swan King and Queen control an entire generation of swans, and generally travel a lot to visit the different Flocks. Unlike many of the predatory werecreatures, swanmanes are not always tied to the moon for their shifts. This is because people coming into this strain of lycanthropy can be cursed with the flavor. In the case of males, as they grow older and stay in swan form more often, their hair is replaced by fine feathers.
Although Swanmanes tend to be a bit weaker than most of the predatory shapeshifters, they can still defend themselves quite well. When in swan form, they have a wingspan that can reach almost up to 10ft. (which can be quite intimidating) and have a nail beak - a plate of hard, horny tissue at the tip of the beak, and is often bent to form a hook.
C is run a little differently than most. Instead of their ranks being picked by lineage, they are instead picked on a vote of confidence. This means that an alpha doesn’t automatically get a position over a beta or omega. An omega, if able to prove their worth, could have a position that a beta or alpha would usually have. This goes against the norm, and most other Flocks would look down upon this, however solid the history and reasoning behind it may be.

Other Info

  • Currently nothing; will be added to if other info comes up.

Taiyang - Alpha Male. (Taiyang in Chinese means the ‘Sun’.)
Yueliang - Alpha Female. (Yueliang in Chinese means the ‘Moon.’)
  • When speaking of the Yueliang and Taiyang, it is typical of someone to say “She is the darkness to his light” or “He is the light to her darkness.” Meaning that they balance one another, like Yin and Yang.
Mingxing - Second in Command. (Mingxing in Chinese means ‘Star’)
  • To become a Mingxing, an Alpha fox must prove themselves worthy of the title by doing something that makes the Yueliang and the Taiyang feel that they are the ‘Star’ to their ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’. Meaning that they complete the sky that is the Skulk.
Qing daofu - The Scavenger. (Qing daofu in Chinese means ‘Scavenger’)
  • The Qing daofu is typically the most skillful of all the A were-foxes in finding the things the Skulk needs. Things such as shelter, food, jobs, etc. This is the person they put in charge of figuring out where the Skulk will live, and helping Skulk members to find jobs. In shifted form the Qing daofu would be the one to find food sources and present it to the Yueliang and Taiyang. They are also considered the teachers of the Omega foxes, the ones who teach them to control their fox beast and how to be a good scavenger to provide for the Skulk.

The Skulk

When a group of were-fox get together, this is typically known as a Skulk.
Though the foxes have a group name and ranking system, they do not always prefer this way of life. Because of their timid and skittish nature, many were-fox choose to align themselves with a larger, stronger, predatory species, joining their clan for more protection than a Skulk could offer them, and to be protected from any other predator species that might want to harm them. It is because of this that there are very few Skulks in the world. When there is an actual Skulk, the Yueliang and Taiyang are on equal footing, Yin and Yang.
Were-foxes are generally a scavenger species, quick, agile, and great with camouflage. They are ‘lovers not fighters’ and tend to do anything they can to keep themselves safe and out of harm’s way. They tend to lean more towards fruits, vegetables, plants and insects as their main source of food, sometimes enjoying a smaller animal such as chipmunk or mouse when the mood strikes.
In shifted and human form, foxes have many scent glands in their bodies and enjoy marking their territory whenever possible. The scent glands are located in their tails, the pads of their paws, and their cheeks. They can rub their body parts on objects to mark what is theirs. When mating or with someone they find attractive as a mate, foxes will rub their cheeks or tail against the potential mate, or stroke them with the palm of their hand in human form…letting all other foxes know that they have chosen this fox. Though it is a warning signal to other foxes, the warning is sometimes not heeded and a fight will break out over the potential mate.
The United States is home to very few Skulks and were-fox alike, though it is thought that the were-foxes are originally from China, as they are larger in numbers and play a bigger role in the art work of Chinese culture.
The were-fox strain can be inherited or in rare cases infected, though there is the possibility of being cursed as one as well. Inherited were-foxes are considered to be higher up on the totem pole than an infected or cursed, as it is with many different species, though on occasion a were-fox that has proven themselves to be special for whatever reason are considered to have the ‘soul’ of a fox and are thus considered to have been given the gift of the fox by their God(s) and not by accident.
There are a wide variety of species of foxes that the were-fox may emulate, though the most common is the Red Fox. Inherited were-foxes generally take after the species that their ancestors were, and infected take after the were-fox that infected them. Cursed were-foxes are known to take after the type of fox that’s fur closely resembles the color of the human’s hair. (I.E. Red fox for red heads, Arctic fox for blondes, etc.)
Were-foxes generally look a bitfoxish in their human forms with sharp features, and being very petite of frame. They also can produce a hybrid form that mainly just enhances these features with the addition of a tail, ears, whiskers, sharper teeth, claws etc.

Other Info

  • Though the species is canine, unlike wolves and hyenas, they are a lot harder strain of lycanthropy to catch, and because of their recluse nature, there are little to no vaccinations stemming from the fox strain of lycanthropy.

Ursa - The Female Leader of the Sleuth; the Queen; Momma Bear. ([Latin for 'she-bear'.)
Ursus - The Male Leader of the Sleuth; the King; Papa Bear. (Latin for 'bear'.)
Imperator- Emperor/Second in Command; The right hand of the Ursa and Ursus, tasked with punishing unruly or troublesome Sleuth members and/or rogues. (Latin for 'Emperor, Commander, Chief, General, etc.')
Tutela - Personal bodyguard and confidant of the Ursa. (Latin for 'care, safeguard, guard, defense, etc.')
Stipator - Personal bodyguard and confidant of the Ursus. (Latin for 'bodyguard, attendant, protector, etc.')
Cunaria - The nanny/babysitter of any minor children of the Sleuth, as well as the guide for newly shifted Omega members. (Latin for 'babysitter, nanny, caregiver, etc.')
  • Does the majority of training, teaching, and explaining the ways of the WereBears to younger members and newly shifted, infected, and/or cursed members.

The Sleuth

Sleuth is the term for a grouping of bears that decide to form a family unit versus keeping to the solitary existence that their animal counterparts prefer. Generally even when forming a Sleuth, most members will live apart in their own homes, distant enough to afford them privacy and a feeling of independence, though close enough to help in times of need or trouble.
Bears in general are solitary creatures and tend to only come around one another in times of mating, though this is of course often times overruled by the humanity in a lycanthrope. Thus the existence of Sleuths, however rare that they may be. Werebears can be found all over the world, though they are still considered an uncommon species, but are generally found in dense forests, and in the mountains, usually wherever there is an abundance of untouched nature, and a small population of humans.
Sleuths are highly matriarchal, the Ursa usually being the one to lead and make all the choices for the Sleuth, with the Ursus backing her up and acting as her adviser and confidant. When in the case of a truly mated pair, power may often times be divided equally.
Werebears may be any breed, though the most common seem to be Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, Panda Bears, and Polar Bears; each species or breed lending their own characteristics and dietary choices due to the climates and locations in which they come from. Female werebears are generally much smaller than the males, as is the case with their wild counterparts. Height and weight of a werebear depends on the breed. Werebears may also be inherited, infected, or cursed, though the infection chances are quite low. There is not a current vaccine with the bear strain of DNA as bears are not a common species due to their solitary nature.
As far as dietary choices go, as stated above, those choices depend largely on the location that the werebear has grown up in, and what breed of bear that they are. Inherited bears will generally stick closely to their wild counterparts' dietary choices, whereas infected or cursed bears may not show any indication of preferring a certain type of food over another.
With mating, werebears are very much like their wild counterparts, generally not choosing to be monogamous unless they find their true mate; in which case they will not seek out the attentions of another for the rest of their lives. Because bears tend to have a litter of cubs at a time, generally 1-3, the normality of multiples with each pregnancy is quite high, typically twins and occasionally triplets.
Werebears, like their wild counterparts, make an array of sounds while in their feral form; Moaning, which is typically used as a mild warning to others about potential threats, or used to show fear.Barking is often times used to alert others to danger, or in excitement over something. A huffing noise is made during courtship and mating, to show affection for another, or between a mother and her cubs to warn them of danger or to get their attention. Growling or Roaring are similarly used to show their anger, to warn others that they are within territory that is taken, or also used for intimidating others.

Other Info

  • Werebears have a natural born enemy, the weretiger, due to tigers praying on bears in the wild. These two species are hard pressed to live in the same area, and generally are at war with one another constantly, the ill will for each other being hard coded into their natural instincts. Werebears do not always fear tigers, though they often times have an automatic dislike for them and will do their best to avoid them at all cost.
  • Contrary to popular belief, bearsdo not always hibernate in the winter. They can if they would like to, but it is not necessary. Unlike the other species of lycanthropy, Werebears can shift into their bear form and hibernate for weeks at a time in the cold of the winter, and are not subject to becoming feral or crazy when they return to their human forms.
